Fitness FAQs
Why should I go to a gym rather than working out by myself?
In many cases, it’s simply more economical to have a gym membership, rather than trying to put together a home gym. Local gyms will have all the equipment you could want, often in the hundreds of thousands of dollars worth. It’s impractical to amass that kind of selection on your own. Even if all you want to do is shed a few pounds by running on a treadmill, you can run for 3 years or more at many gyms before you’ve spent the equivalent of a single treadmill.
Is money the only reason to turn to a gym for personal fitness?
No, the other major factor is motivation. Gyms feature personal trainers whose entire goal is to motivate you to reach your goals. Everyone will have weak moments in their will to get in shape, and that’s where having a personal trainer can make all the difference. Since having a dedicated trainer is out of the question for most people, a gym offers the next best thing.
What can I expect to find at a fitness store?
You can expect to find a community of people who are dedicated to leading a healthy life. The employees are knowledgeable in their fields, and can point you in the right direction if you have any questions. In some cases, the right direction may be your doctor. Remember, it’s important to consult your physician before embarking on nutritional supplement regimens, as well as when changing your workout habits.
