If you are looking for an activity to improve your overall fitness, yoga is an excellent option. Yoga works multiple muscle groups that can be missed in a typical workout. It is also head and shoulders above other forms of working out for promoting your mental health. Yoga encompasses the body and the mind in a way that much of western culture seems to have missed out on.
That is what makes yoga so great for fitness. You can do just about anything to tone and sculpt your body, but to relax and realign your mind? That is the kind of thing that’s usually done form a chair, whether with a book, or another human being. To be able to do it while exercising is multi tasking at it’s finest.
Though if you put it to someone who’s been practicing yoga for years, they’d tell you that you have it all wrong. Multi tasking is about adding more to your life, possibly more than you really need. Yoga is about clearing away the unnecessary clutter from your mind, leaving it clear and relaxed for the things that are truly important. And that is the aspect of fitness yoga truly grasps like nothing else does.
